Parcours / Lebenslauf / Professional experience

After her bachelor’s degree in nursing (University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland), Barbara Ducry went to London where she obtained an MSc in Global Health and Development at University College London (UCL). She is fascinated by the impact and intersection of individuals’ lifestyles and environmental factors, as well as the increase of non-communicable diseases. Consequently, her master’s thesis focused on the global impact of Foreign Direct Investment on the food environment in developing countries.

She gained experience in research and project management by working as a scientific collaborator at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute in Basel. Her interest in the field of prevention and health promotion, led her to later work as a Health Promotion Specialist at the Institute of Global Health (University of Geneva). While there, she implemented a project aimed at raising awareness among physicians about tobacco and alcohol addiction as well as provided evidence-based information and tolls on how to curb patients’ addictions. Concurrently, she obtained an inter-university diploma in Tobacco addiction and smoking cessation aids (Paris-Sud University & Pierre and Marie Curie University), and a Certification in project management (IPMA)
