The Continuing Education department of the School of Health Sciences Fribourg (Heds FR) offers a wide range of continuing and postgraduate education programmes recognised by HES-SO, aimed at healthcare and social care professionals.

The Heds FR offering includes HES-SO Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS), HES-SO Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), Microcertifications, as well as modules and thematic study days, enabling targeted and flexible skills development.

These programmes can be followed on an individual basis or tailored to meet the specific needs of a department or institution, both in terms of content and organisation.

  • Postgraduate programmes, DAS, CAS, Microcertifications and modules are based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), with one credit corresponding to 25 to 30 hours of work. They combine courses, seminars, practical work, individual study and assessments which, in accordance with HES-SO regulations, generally require a minimum of two years of professional experience.

  • Short continuing education programmes, offered in the form of thematic study days, do not carry ECTS credits and lead to a certificate of attendance.

A Microcertification or module is a training programme focused on a specific topic. Its duration varies depending on the number of ECTS credits awarded.

The programme may be taken independently or may correspond to a module from a CAS or DAS. In all cases, registration is on an individual basis for a session scheduled by Heds FR, with dates set in advance.

Need a tailored training programme?

Microcertifications and modules can also be offered as services to institutions and departments. Tailored to the specific needs of each organisation, these programmes provide a relevant solution for meeting targeted objectives while benefiting from the educational expertise of Heds FR.

Heds FR offers two training formats:

  • Individual training: Participants register for a session scheduled by Heds FR according to a timetable established in advance.

  • Training services for institutions: Designed to meet specific needs, the training is developed and organised in collaboration with the commissioning institution. The content, organisation and teaching methods are adapted to the practical requirements and professional context concerned.

Examples of training programmes are available here. The examples provided are not exhaustive. Any additional or specific request can be considered in order to offer a training programme tailored to the needs identified by the institution.

Heds FR offers recognised preparatory modules to prepare for the higher professional examination leading to the Federal Diploma of Expert in Diabetes Counselling.

This programme, recognised and accredited by EPSanté, enables participants to acquire the competencies required to take the higher professional examination. The organisation and administration of the examination are the sole responsibility of EPSanté.

This programme is offered exclusively in German.
