The Alumni Association of the Heds FR aims to create an active network connecting graduates in Nursing and Osteopathy from the School of Health Sciences Fribourg (Heds FR) with healthcare professionals working in the Canton of Fribourg.

The objectives of the Association are to:

  • create an active and supportive professional network among its members;

  • contribute to the development and visibility of Heds FR;

  • maintain links with former students and foster exchanges between them, the management and public authorities;

  • represent and defend the interests of its members vis-à-vis the management of Heds FR and public authorities;

  • support and accompany the professional development and careers of its members.

To fulfil these missions, the Association notably:

  • organises social and professional events that encourage members to meet and exchange;

  • awards an “Alumni” prize highlighting students for the quality of their Bachelor’s thesis;

  • facilitates the exchange of information through publications on the Heds FR website, via the Association’s official communication channels.

According to the Association’s statutes, membership is open to anyone who:

  • has obtained a diploma from Heds FR or from a nursing school in the Canton of Fribourg;

  • works or has worked at Heds FR (e.g. management, teaching staff, lecturers);

  • has obtained a nursing or osteopathy qualification elsewhere and works or has worked in the Canton of Fribourg.

The membership fee is set by the General Assembly in accordance with the statutes and amounts to CHF 65.–.

StartCare is a telephone support service created by members of the Heds FR Alumni Association Committee to support nurses in the Canton of Fribourg who have recently graduated during their first years of professional practice. It offers a free (excluding operator charges), supportive and confidential telephone service designed to support healthcare professionals in addressing the challenges of starting their careers.

The telephone service has been available since 5 February 2026. It can be reached on Mondays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at +41 26 347 16 90. It is also possible to contact the service by email to arrange an appointment.

The project is supported by Heds FR, the Directorate of Health and Social Affairs of the Canton of Fribourg (DSAS), the Organisation du monde du travail (OrTra) of the Canton of Fribourg for the health and social care sectors, as well as the cantonal representative of the Fribourg office of Alliance Care.
